As of the end of 2020, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had more than 250 monasteries and more than 45,000 monastics laboring in the ascetic life, and those numbers have only continued to grow, especially during Great Lent.

Earlier this month, OrthoChristian reported on the establishment of the Convent of St. Olga in the Cherkasy Diocese, and another monastery is currently under construction in the Vinnitsa Diocese.

On Saturday, His Eminence Metropolitan Barsanuphius of Vinnitsa and diocesan secretary Archimandrite Arkady (Sencukivsky) visited the construction site to see the progress on the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, reports the diocesan press service.

The Prophet Elijah monastic community was established by episcopal order on April 8., with Archimandrite Arkady appointed the chairman.

The community is still in need of funds to finish the church and the monastic quarters. For those who are able, donations can be sent to PrivatBank card: 4149 4390 1838 5611. The recipient is Mikhail Bogdanovich Senchukivsky.

Earlier this month, the Ukrainian the Andrusiev-Annunciation Monastery in the Rivne Diocese celebrated the first tonsure since its founding 5 years ago.
