Star of The Island (Ostrov), Petr Mamonov, in ICU

In 2019, Russian Orthodox actor Petr Mamonov, the star of the famous film “The Island” (Ostrov), in which he played the clairvoyant fool for Christ Fr. Anatoly, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after experiencing problems with his lungs.

The 70-year-old actor and musician is currently in the ICU at the hospital in Kommunarka, just south of Moscow.

“They say his condition is serious. He went to the hospital on Sunday. He had a fever, but we brought it down. When the lung problems started, we urgently called for an ambulance. The lung damage is at 87%. He has COVID,” his wife Olga told RBC.

Mamonov was admitted to the ICU in 2019 after suffering a heart attack. He was released after undergoing two successful heart operations.
