Chișinău, Moldova, July 20, 2021
The Orthodox Metropolia of Chișinău and All Moldova held its 18th annual cross procession in honor of St. Stephen the Great, the 15th-century Prince of Moldavia, over the weekend.
The traditional Path of the Cross and Repentance in Chișinău was held on July 16 and 17 with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău.
His Grace Bishop Siluan of Orhei opened the festivities on Friday morning at the capital’s Church of the Great Martyr Demetrios with the reading of the Akathist to the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God, reports the Moldovan Church.
Encouraging the faithful on their way, Bp. Siluan preached: “The virtue of one soul, of the Mother of God, was enough to stop the wickedness of the sins of the whole human race, said St. Nicholas Cabasilas. Thus, by offering prayers to the Most Holy Mother of God, we ask and hope that she will intercede before God for our forgiveness, for the strengthening of faith and love, for the salvation of our souls.”
He finished by asking God’s grace and mercy upon all participating in the cross procession.
“With spiritual will and hope in the Lord, the believers of the capital again this year spiritually enjoyed the organization of the Path of the Cross and repentance, a procession pleasing to God, in which they had the opportunity to pray to Christ the Savior, to His immaculate Mother, and to His holy saints, to guard our city and our country from all evils and temptations, granting us His unspeakable mercy and invincible help,” the report reads.
