Through the combined efforts of the Serbian Orthodox Church and government, a large family in Kosovo now has a new home to live in.
With the blessing of the Serbian Holy Synod and His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije, Anna Vuković, a mother of 10 children in northern Kosovo, was awarded the Order of Queen Milica and handed to the keys to a new home, reports Pravoslavie.ru.
The new home was blessed by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raška and Prizren.
“To have so many children, to live in such love, to invest so much in your Church, people, and country—this is true wealth,” the hierarch said, praising her self-sacrifice. Anna is a great example for many mothers of how to live for the sake of their children, His Grace added.
Construction on the home was begun by the diocese and finished by the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Affairs.
The Office director, Petar Petković, stressed that seeing such a large family, he understands what Serbia is fighting for and promised that assistance will continue to be provided.
“We are fighting for our Kosovo and Metohija, for our children and their future in Kosovo and Metohija,” the director said.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Hilandar, the Serbian monastery on Mt. Athos, has pledged to financially support two women whose families were brutally murdered in Kosovo and Metohija in 1999.
