Beloved Russian Elder Iliy (Nozdrin) diagnosed with COVID

The most beloved and revered elder in Russia today, Schema-Archimandrite Iliy (Nozdrin), has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The press service of the Russian Orthodox Church reports that he is in satisfactory condition and under the constant supervision of doctors. Fr. Iliy is 89 years old.

The Telegram channel Tserkvach adds that his planned trips have been canceled.

The elder is connected with several of the holiest sites in Russian Orthodoxy, having labored in asceticism for many decades at the Pskov Caves Monastery, St. Panteleimon’s Monastery on Mt. Athos, and Optina Monastery.
