Trześcianka, Poland, September 3, 2021
The primate of the Polish Orthodox Church blessed this week a new wing in an Orthodox nursing home that is fully equipped with modern medical and therapeutic equipment.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland visited and blessed the Church facility in the village of Trześcianka in northeastern Poland on Wednesday, opening the new wing for residents who are ready to move in. The event was also attended by His Grace Bishop Paweł of Hajnówka and several priests in charge of various Church-run social institutions, reports the Polish Orthodox Church.
“The most important participants of the ceremony, however, were the 24 residents” of the nursing home, reads the Church report. Their new rooms are fully equipped with modern equipment and sanitary facilities in greater number than the rest of the nursing home, which will undergo renovation.
In his archpastoral word, Met. Sawa emphasized the great importance of love and mercy, which are the metronome of our faith.
“Whoever says he loves his neighbor but doesn’t support him in his need denies his faith,” His Beatitude said. “The children of Christ love their brothers because in this they testify to their love for God the Father and the Mother Church,” he added.
OrthoChristian earlier reported that Bachkovo Monastery in Bulgaria is opening a home for elderly priests and parishioners.
