A new church complex is under construction for the Orthodox faithful in Haiti.

The Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russian reports: “In order to respond to the demands of the Orthodox parish community of Blessed Augustine in Jacmel, Haiti, and in order to glorify, worship, and praise God in a healthy environment, promoting the development of the Orthodox Faith, the administration of the Haitian Orthodox Mission has been working diligently to construct a new temple and parish complex.”

Construction has already begun on the church, classrooms, a kitchen, and storage space.

The Haitian Mission administration has disbursed a 50% down payment of $25,000 to begin the work, but the total expense of purchased materials, including rocks, sand, gravel, backfill, cement, iron, and timber has exceeded $29,500.

The parish needs to continue making payments to avoid delays in construction and potentially losing contractors to other jobs, and to stay ahead of the rising costs of materials.

Any donations towards this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated by the St. Augustine parish community. You can offer a donation through the ROCOR Fund for Assistance’s PayPal account.

Rector Fr. Claude Pierre states: “We would like to thank God, the Mission administration and donors in Haiti, and the entire Church Abroad, the workers and all people who have participated in one way or another in carrying out this work.”

In a 2016 interview, Archpriest Victor Potapov stated that there were at that time five ROCOR parishes on Haiti and about 7,000 faithful.

Thanks Gregory. Try it now. If it still doesn't work, you can go to the first link in the article, to the story on the Eastern American Diocese site, and click on donate from there.

Hello, It looks like the paypal charity link indicates the fundraiser is done. Is this correct or is that the wrong link? In Christ, -Gregory
