Photo: orthodoxianewsagency.gr The Orthodox Church continues to grow rapidly throughout the African continent. Mass Baptisms are more the rule than the exception there, with even whole villages converting at times.
Last week, OrthoChristian reported on the Tanzanian village of Mobe, where all or most of the village has turned to Christ in His Church.
And on Saturday, another 140 people were baptized into Christ in the Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania, report the Orthodoxia News Agency.
In all, more than 500 people have received Holy Illumination in Tanzania in the past month. People of all ages, even from remote villages, come to receive Baptism at the hands of Bishop Agathonikos of Arusha and Central Tanzania.

More than 500 Tanzanians also received Holy Baptism in February 2019, and another 230 in January 2020. In February of that year, the first Orthodox monastery in Tanzania celebrated its first Divine Liturgy, and that September, a mass wedding for the Orthodox faithful of the Maasai tribe in Tanzania was held.
In January of this year, 80 Baptisms and 2 weddings were celebrated in Kimouli, and another 40 were baptized in March in Niagara Cerua.
