The holy Orthodox Church gained many souls this week, with the celebration of a mass Baptism in Tanzania.

On January 19, the feast of St. Mark of Ephesus, one of the Pillars of Orthodoxy, 12 priests celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Mark in Kimouli, in the northwestern Tanzanian province of Cerua, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

After the Divine Liturgy, 2 weddings and 80 Baptisms were celebrated. The church is only half-built, without any doors or windows yet, but it is still the spiritual home to many who are seeking Christ.

More than 500 Tanzanians received Holy Baptism in February 2019, and another 230 in January 2020. In September, a mass wedding for the Orthodox faithful of the Maasai tribe in Tanzania was held, and in February, the first Orthodox monastery in Tanzania celebrated its first Divine Liturgy.
