At the request of the Bulgarian Ministry of Health, a whole slew of ambulances have been sent off for use throughout the country with the blessing of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

On Friday, October 15, His Grace Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik, Vicar of the Sofia Metropolis, celebrated the blessing of water and blessed 18 new ambulances that will be used by 11 emergency medical centers, reports the Sofia Metropolis.

The ambulances were purchased under a contract between the Ministry of Health and the Sofia France Auto company.

After the blessing, Bp. Polycarp also presented an icon of the Mother of God and a 2022 Church calendar for each ambulance on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Neofit.

In June, Bp. Polycarp visited the Church’s spiritual center for the social rehabilitation and integration of children outside of Sofia after the Sofia Metropolis donated a new multifunctional device for low- and medium-frequency stimulation with ultrasound.
