Ukrainian hierarchs celebrate Liturgy at Cleveland cathedral

The faithful of the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Cleveland (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia) had the blessing of a Divine Liturgy celebrated by two visiting hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church yesterday.

The service was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, the Ukrainian Church’s representative to European international organizations, and His Grace Bishop Dionysiy of Pereyaslav and Khmelnitsky, together with the cathedral rector Archpriest Ilia Marzev and other cathedral clergy, Archpriest Vladimir Tereshchuk from Kiev, and Archimandrite Dosifey, dean of the church at the Kiev Theological Academy, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

As an autonomous body within the Moscow Patriarchate, ROCOR recognizes only the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church under His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine.

The service was celebrated in Church Slavonic and English. At the end of the Liturgy, Bp. Viktor delivered a sermon, conveyed the blessing of Met. Onuphry to all those present, and thanked His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago for the opportunity to serve in the diocesan cathedral.
