With the blessing of their respective primates, the Orthodox Church in America has teamed with the Polish Orthodox Church to raise funds for the thousands of Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
“We cannot turn a blind eye to the material needs of our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, I am making a special appeal for donations from the individual parishioners of the Orthodox Church in America from February 28th through March 7th,” writes His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon.
Donations collected by the OCA will be sent to ELEOS, the Polish Church’s humanitarian agency that is registered with the Polish government and dealing directly with the refugee crisis.
Funds will go towards refugee relief, housing, and meeting basic needs.
Donations can be made at oca.org/relief.
OrthoChristian earlier reported on Churches in neighboring countries helping Ukrainian and Donbass refugees. His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije also announced that the Serbian Church will collect donations to be sent to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Georgian Church’s youth movement is also gathering non-perishable food items and medicines for Ukraine.
