Kiev, March 3, 2022
As he has for several years now, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine has blessed his flock to keep a special Lenten prayer rule for peace in Ukraine and in the whole world.
“The good prospect of Great Lent is to learn to live in peace with God and in harmony with one another,” His Beatitude said.
“Therefore, I bless all the children of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to read one chapter of the Holy Gospel every day during Lent and to make three prostrations to the ground to end the war, overcome enmity in our long-suffering Ukrainian land, and preserve peace in the world,” the Metropolitan’s message reads.
“Let us work as hard as we can to fill our soul with joy for the sake of a peaceful life on earth and eternal salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord,” His Beatitude concluded.
Both Met. Onuphry and the Ukrainian Synod have called for an end to the fratricidal war in Ukraine.
