His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia issued a call yesterday for all Georgian Orthodox clergy and faithful to offer a common prayer for peace in Ukraine today.

“Unfortunately, Russian-led hostilities continue in Ukraine, leading to the loss of thousands of lives,” the statement begins.

Therefore, the Patriarch calls on all to read the following prayer three times at noon today:

The door of compassion open unto us, O blessed Theotokos, for hoping in thee, let us not perish; through thee may we be delivered from adversities, for thou art the salvation of the Christian race.

His Holiness also blessed all clergy to serve a moleben for peace in Ukraine and a panikhida for those who have perished this coming Sunday.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine has also called on his flock to read a chapter of the Gospel and make three prostrations every day as a prayer for peace in Ukraine.
