A priest who was injured during evacuation a week ago reposed in the Lord yesterday.

Archpriest Vladimir Bormashev of the Church of St. Nicholas in Irpin, Kiev Province, was seriously injured as a result of an explosion while evacuating from the city on the morning of March 23.

He was unconscious in a Kiev hospital for five days, despite the surgery performed on him and the doctors’ best efforts to save his life. Unfortunately, Fr. Vladimir died in the hospital yesterday, reports the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Fr. Vladimir was a zealous pastor, enjoying great respect among the people of Irpin. The St. Nicholas Church complex was built under his direction, becoming one of the gems of the city.

Despite the danger, Fr. Vladimir tried not to leave his place of ministry until the last moment.

“The bright memory of him will be preserved in the hearts of his long-suffering Irpin flock,” writes the UOC.

May Fr. Vladimir’s memory be eternal!
