His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos of Drama of the Orthodox Church of Greece reposed in the Lord this morning at the age of 59.
According to Ekklisia Online, the hierarch was visiting Veria on Sunday night when he began to feel unwell. He was initially admitted to a local hospital, but was later transported to a Thessaloniki hospital, where he died of a myocardial infarction.
He served as a hierarch for nearly 17 years.
His funeral will be served at the cathedral in Drama tomorrow, presided over by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens, according to the Orthodoxia News Agency.

Met. Pavlos was born in Veria in 1963. He studied at the Ecclesiastical School of Lamia and the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from where he eventually received a doctorate in 2002.
He was ordained to the diaconate in 1983 and the priesthood in 1988. In 1991, he was elected abbot of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Soumela. He was consecrated as Metropolitan of Drama on October 9, 2005, following the repose of his predecessor, Metropolitan Dionysios.
