Comrat, Gagauzia, Moldova, May 27, 2022
LGBT marches and all propaganda in favor of non-traditional relations is now illegal in Gagauzia, an autonomous territorial unit within Moldova dominated by the Orthodox Turkic-speaking Gagauz people.
The deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia unanimously adopted the relevant resolution at their session on Wednesday, May 25, reports NewsMaker.
Olesya Tanasoglo, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, who was present at the meeting, said that the Executive Committee fully supports traditional families. In turn, the Chairman of the Assembly, Dmitry Konstantinov, added that “the whole of Gagauzia, the Executive Committee, and the People’s Assembly are united in this.”
Deputy Gregory Kadyn proposed to hold a Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity in Gagauzia during the upcoming pride events in Moldova (June 13-19). “We should all go to church together, then hold concerts in each locality,” Kadyn said. In response, his colleague Mikhail Zhelezoglo recalled that such a holiday is already celebrated on July 8.
Deputy Peter Fazly, called pride events “satanic” and “diabolical.”
According to the deputy, stats show that only 7% of the global population is LGBT. “Why should the rest of the majority go along with these people, and why we should witness these events?” Fazli said.
The deputies also said that the Moldovan government promotes the “rainbow guys” and should consult with Gagauzia in making such decisions.
The Moldovan Orthodox Church has also called on the government to ban pride parades, and has staged its own processions in defense of traditional Christian family values.
