Bystritsa, Lvov Province, Ukraine, August 17, 2022
A widower priest and his six children were recently forced out of their home by schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” activists for refusing to join them in schism.
Having seized the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in the village of Bystritsa, Lvov Province, the schismatics then moved on to seizing the home of Archpriest Yaroslav Yavorsky, who is determined to remain faithful to Christ’s Church, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists, with reference to lawyer and head of the All-Ukrainian Sisterhood of Mary Magdalene Victoria Kokhanovskaya.
Initially the village elder Nikolai Mandziak tried to force Fr. Yaroslav not to leave the house, even forbidding him from meeting people who were bringing him food. Then, despite the fact that the family has lived there for 28 years and bought the house long ago, Mandziak ordered them to vacate the house, or he would call the police.
Thus, Fr. Yaroslav, his children, and their belongings were thrown out onto the street, with no place to go. The youngest daughter is just 8 months old, and the oldest is disabled.
The priest is forbidden from going to the church, so he can’t even pray at the grave of his matushka.
A group of schismatics beat a helpless priest and women while seizing their church in the Khmelnitsky Province earlier this month.
