Beit Jala, Palestine, November 15, 2022
His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem made a pastoral visit to the West Bank on Sunday, where he visited Church-run institutions and laid the foundation stone for a new housing project.
The primate of the Jerusalem Patriarchate first visited a building in the village of Beit Jala, Bethlehem Governorate, that previously functioned as an elementary school but has now been renovated to function as a kindergarten and catechetical school, the Patriarchate reports.
His Beatitude then visited the Church’s new housing project in the same village that will provide a home for 450 families. The project is operated in cooperation with the Beit Jala Community Council.
During his visit, Pat. Theophilos laid the foundation stone in the presence of local Church and civil authorities.
Similar projects are also underway in the Shepherds’ Village and Bethlehem.
The Jerusalem Patriarchate opened a school in Jordan in early September.
