Surely it is a grave sin to perpetuate the lies, delusion and despondency of conspiracy theories.
By their fruits you will know them (Matt.7:20): the dripping tap of division, isolation, anxiety, fear, paranoia, hysteria.
A little while ago a Church friend sent me the delusion of the week, a YouTube video supposedly of a Catholic Bishop prophesying a global famine. Mercy, what an easy place to go for a conspiracy theorist: famine. There have always been famines, there always will be, such things are inevitable.
It is enlightening to fact check this sort of rubbish. Not a Catholic Bishop, this commentator had been excommunicated by the Roman Catholic Church and, most tellingly, convicted in the German criminal courts of being a Holocaust denier.
Not in any way a credible witness of any kind. An attention seeker and false prophet sowing lies into a captive market—credulous Church communities.
If you swallowed that one, just look back at yourself nodding and grinning inanely into the fairground mirror of confirmation bias.
How hard will it be for you to identify the unhappiness in your own life that has caused you to run headlong down the rabbit hole of delusion?
The next time you are tempted take a careful look behind you, you may catch a glimpse of something nasty with its arm up the back of your jacket using you as a glove puppet. Pure theatre in an almost closed community of frogs in the pond philosophers.
For the love of God consider your family, the families of your close friends and those in our communities who already have both hands full with the cares of life and do not bring this deceit into your conversation! Yes, we may be living through pre-Apocalyptic times... just as people thought that they were in 400 years ago in Shakespeare's time... and in many, many times both before and since!
“You don't have to be afraid of anything or anyone. You need to ask the Mother of God for help, because the enemies are terrified of Her. She will warm your heart, open for you a new vision and a new meaning for everything around. And she will drive the enemies away from you.” Archimandrite John (Krestiankin).
There is nothing new under the sun (Eccl.1:9).
If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know (1 Cor.8:2).
There is a way that is seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death (Prov.14:12).
You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men (1 Cor.7:23).
The saints will judge the world (1 Cor.6:2).
Isaiah 8: 11–13, NKJV:
For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:
Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’
Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.
The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear,
And let Him be your dread.
Ephesians 4:14:
That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.
Fear God alone. Pay no attention to the infantilism of the walking dead, the Satan’s pawn marionette end-time philosophers, their dismal mock piety and absurd fantasies.
