The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America elected a new bishop for the Albanian Archdiocese this week.
In October, clergy and lay representatives of the Albanian Archdiocese, which consists of 11 parishes mainly scattered throughout New England, voted for Archimandrite Nikodhim (Preston) as the successor to Archbishop Nikon, who reposed in the Lord in September 2019.
And yesterday, the Synod of Bishops canonically elected Archimandrite Nikhodim as Bishop of Boston and the Albanian Archdiocese, the OCA reports.
Fr. Nikodhim was ordained to the priesthood by Abp. Nikon in 2010, and in 2017, he was tonsured as a monastic, named in honor of the holy Martyr Nikodhim of Vithkuq and Berat. He currently serves as Chancellor of the Albanian Archdiocese and rector of the St. Nicholas Church in Queens.
