Body of monk found on Mt. Athos

Officials believe the body of a monk who has been missing since last month has been found on the Holy Mountain.

Monk George K., 60, from the Holy Cell of St. Artemios of the Great Lavra was reported missing on April 4. Yesterday, it was reported that the body of a monk was found in an inaccessible area of Mt. Athos, believed to be Fr. George, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

The body was found less than a mile from the Cell of St. Artemios.

The body is expected to be transferred to the Forensic Service of Thessaloniki for identification.
