A new church was consecrated in Odessa over the weekend for a parish that especially cares for the deaf and hearing impaired.

His Eminence Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa consecrated the Church of the Enlightener of Minds Icon of the Mother of God on Sunday, May 28, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The rector, Archpriest Svyatoslav Minaev and other clerics of the parish know sign language and all the services are celebrated with sign language interpretation.

The new church was built by the efforts of the parishioners of the Church of St. Elizabeth, the majority of whom are deaf or hearing-impaired.
