Ukrainians and Romanians concelebrate Transfiguration at Ukrainian monastery

Ukrainian and Romanian clergy and laymen came together on August 19, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, to celebrate at a Ukrainian Orthodox monastery in Western Ukraine.

The day marked the patronal feast of the Holy Transfiguration Church of the St. John of Suceava Convent in Krasnoilsk, Chernivtsi Province. The service was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Ternopil, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

His Eminence was concelebrated by His Grace Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk and local and visiting clergy, including from Romania. The service was attended by monastics and laity from Ukraine and Romania.

Special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine and that the Lord might bless those who are suffering and who have lost their homes.

At the end of the service, grapes, apples, and other fruits were blessed.
