A Romanian Orthodox parish community in Spain is in the process of purchasing its own worship space.

The parish of Sts. Zacharias and Elizabeth in Boadilla del Monte and Brunete will, with the support of the Department for Romanians Everywhere of the Romanian government, purchase the space it has been leasing on the outskirts of Madrid since 2017, reports the Basilica News Agency.

The faithful have completely renovate the space over the past 6 years. The space has two bathrooms, a small kitchen, a space for Confession, and a generous area allocated for services.

The Brunete City Hall has granted a license to operate as a religious center, which means all building codes have been met, notes parish priest Fr. Flavius Sebastian Sava.

The community should fully own the property by November.

The Department for Romanians Everywhere notes that Romanians are the second largest foreign nationality in Spain.

In July, a Russian Orthodox church was consecrated in honor of St. John of San Francisco in Spain.
