If you feel some good inclination in your heart, stop—do not dare to be carried away by it. Check it against the Gospel.
Whoever is meek is perfect and God-like; he is filled with joy and is the dwelling-place of the Spirit of God.

But we have so much confidence in the Deity of the Spirit Whom we adore, that we will begin our teaching concerning His Godhead by fitting to Him the Names which belong to the Trinity, even though some persons may think us too bold.
In the hymn, St. Gregory’s favorite themes are developed, including the unity of the Holy Trinity, the creation of the world, the creation of man as an “image of light”, his enlightenment and theosis, universal harmony, and man’s ascetical life.
