The story of the Exodus of the chosen people from Egypt, their wandering through the desert and entering of the Promised Land reflect the stages of the ascetic’s spiritual life on his path to Paradise.
Our drama is that, although we did not evolve from apes, our civilization is moving in that direction.
If everything comes down to blind, random evolutionism, then the problem of ancestral sin disappears. The need for salvation and for the Savior also disappears, which means that the Resurrection and the phenomenon of holiness are eliminated.
