Another major charitable action was recently carried out by the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Archdiocese of Athens’ charitable organization Apostoli, and the company Masoutis.

The Metropolis, continuing its diverse actions of practical support for the vulnerable and needy, as part of the Together Wherever There’s Need program, again offered support to hundreds of families who belong to vulnerable population groups, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

Metropolitan Symeon of Fthiotida and the General Director of Apostoli, Kostis Dimtsas, distributed 44,800 prepared meals provided by Masoutis to families who are members of associations for children with special needs, the disabled, those suffering from multiple sclerosis, diabetes, kidney problems, and cancer.

“Our Church dedicates every day to people who are in need,” for which Apostoli was created, emphasized Met. Symeon.

The Metropolis offers meals to “people who have special problems, through our regional associations of cancer patients, kidney patients, diabetics, paraplegics, disabled people, children with mental disabilities,” the hierarch said.

“We embrace this entire spectrum of our fellow citizens, whom we don’t want to be hidden somewhere, but to be in openness, visibility, and accessibility, and we offer a caress of love, a smile, and especially, a very warm look that gives strength, hope, and optimism.”

“It’s not just a food package,” said Apostoli General Director Kostis Dimtsas. “It’s a symbolic message that the Church stands beside every person both spiritually and mainly to support their livelihood.”
