LGBT demonstrations and propaganda have been banned in the Moldovan capital of Chișinău.

“LGBT marches, demonstrations, and propaganda have been prohibited in the territory of the municipality of Chișinău. PAS (Party of Action and Solidarity) councilors left the meeting in protest,” Mayor Ion Ceban wrote on Telegram yesterday.

In particular, the extraordinary meeting of the Chișinău Municipal Council approved the draft “Regarding the holding of public meetings with sensitive topics related to gender identity and sexual orientation in the Chisinau municipality (LGBTQ+)”, which prohibits the holding of public activities organized by the community, reports moldova1.md.

Moldova’s autonomous Gagauzia region already made the same legislative move back in May 2022.

Of course, the Moldovan Orthodox Church has repeatedly spoken out against LGBT propaganda and called for a ban on pride marches and similar manifestations. The Church has even has staged its own processions in defense of traditional Christian family values.

One hierarch, His Eminence Archbishop Marchel of Bălți and Fălești was fined twice in 2024 for anti-pride parade statements.

Meanwhile, KyivPride recently announced that it will hold a charity festival on June 7, the Saturday before Pentecost, and a pride march on June 14.

An LGBT film festival was also held in Kiev on Holy Friday, Holy Saturday, Holy Pascha, and throughout Bright Week.
