More than 100 people were received into the Orthodox Church in Africa in two services on the feast of Pentecost.
Before the festal Liturgy at the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Mongu, Zambia, Fr. Sylvester Mumbi baptized 42 representatives of the Lozi people, who converted from other Christian denominations, reports the Russian Church’s African Exarchate.
During the Liturgy, the newly illumined received Holy Communion for the first time.

And at the parish of All Saints in Bertoua, Cameroon, a non-canonical community of more than 70 people were received into the Church and received Holy Communion during the Liturgy celebrated by Fr. Victor Mfegh, who was ordained in Moscow this winter.
The members of the non-canonical community decided to follow Fr. Victor into the Orthodox Church and underwent six months of catechism under his guidance.
More than 50 members of a non-canonical group in Cameroon also joined the Church in June 2024.
Yesterday, OrthoChristian reported on the ongoing conversion of a group of thousands from a non-canonical group, joining the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Côte d’Ivoire.
