Hierarchs of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church concelebrated this weekend.

Yesterday, Sunday August 3, His Eminence Metropolitan Philaret of Lvov of the UOC joined the Macedonian hierarchs His Eminence Metropolitan Naum of Strumica and His Grace Bishop Jacob of Stobi for the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of St. Leonty and the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Vodoča, reports tiveriopol.mk.

According to the Macedonian outlet religija.mk, this is the first time Ukrainian and Macedonian hierarchs have concelebrated since the Macedonian Church returned to Church communion and became autocephalous in June 2022.

Ukrainian priests did concelebrate with a Macedonian hierarch in the Holy Land in September 2022.

The UOC’s Met. Philaret was also present at the Liturgy celebrated by the Macedonian primate His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan the day before, praying in the altar.

The UOC added His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid to its diptychs in November 2022. The Macedonian Synod spoke out in support of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and the persecuted Ukrainian Church in September 2024 and has refused to recognize the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”
