His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid, primate of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos near Columbus, Ohio, on August 28, marking the feast day of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

The Archbishop, who arrived in Columbus on August 21 for an extended pastoral visit to the American-Canadian Diocese, was joined in serving the Liturgy by parish priest Fr. Radovan Cekovski and clergy from the Skopje Diocese, Presbyter Daniel Jovanovski and Protodeacon Aleksandar Dimitrijov, the Skopje Diocese reports.

The service concluded the anniversary celebrations commemorating 60 years since the consecration of the first church building of this Macedonian Orthodox parish, which stands as one of the founding Macedonian church communities in North America.

Abp. Stefan’s visit to North America, at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Metodij, includes attendance at multiple parish anniversaries and the 51st Diocesan Church-National Assembly of the American-Canadian Diocese in New Jersey.

A highlight of his visit will be a concelebration of the Divine Liturgy with His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, primate of the Orthodox Church in America, in Washington, D.C. today. The Orthodox Church in America recently recognized the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.

Following his time in the United States, the Archbishop will travel to Canada for anniversary celebrations at St. Clement of Ohrid Church in Toronto, another of the oldest Macedonian Orthodox parishes in the diaspora marking its 60th anniversary.
