The Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric’s European Diocese acquired a new church building in Switzerland this week.

The purchase agreement for a church building for the Most Holy Theotokos parish community in Locarno was officially signed on May 6, the feast of St. George, reports Liturgija.

According to the European Diocese, this significant moment represents a new chapter for the Macedonian Orthodox community in Locarno and the surrounding area. After long efforts, prayers, and collective support, the faithful now have their own spiritual home, which will serve as a place for prayer, unity, and preservation of Macedonian faith and tradition.

The parish community expressed great gratitude to all the faithful and supporters who contributed to making this dream a reality.

The acquisition follows previous reports of the diocese obtaining buildings for parish communities in Stuttgart and Utrecht last October.
