Nearly two dozen people were baptized at a parish of the Moscow Patriarchate’s African Exarchate in Mozambique earlier this month.

On Saturday, June 6, the Leavetaking of Pentecost, 22 local residents were baptized at the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Zambézia Province, the Exarchate reports.

The Sacrament was celebrated by Fr. Christos Sitoé, rector of the Holy Trinity Parish in Maputo, who was traveling through communities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in the northern part of the country.

The following day, the Sunday of All Saints, the newly baptized received Holy Communion for the first time at the Divine Liturgy.

During the same visit, Fr. Christos celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of the Great Martyr Catherine in Zambézia and held conversations with community members on the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith.

At the St. Nicholas parish, the priest also served a moleben with the blessing of water and sprinkled the parishioners and their homes with holy water.
