The Macedonian Orthodox Parish of St. Clement of Ohrid in Berlin has broken ground on a new church, marking the start of a long-anticipated project to provide Macedonian Orthodox faithful in the German capital with a dedicated house of worship.
The construction was launched recently with the laying of foundations and pouring of the first concrete slab, reports the Macedonian Orthodox Diocese of Europe.
“With each new day and each stone laid, we draw closer to the realization of a long-held dream,” the parish said in a statement. “Let us pray that the Lord blesses all benefactors, donors, and kind-hearted people who support this holy work. May God’s blessing be upon all of us, and may this church become a spiritual refuge for present and future generations of Macedonians in Berlin.”
The parish is calling on community members to contribute to the project, appealing for unity and collective effort to complete the church as soon as possible.
The groundbreaking in Berlin comes on the heels of the European Diocese’s recent acquisition of a new building in Switzerland, reported last month by OrthoChristian, continuing a broader pattern of institutional expansion by the diocese across the continent.
