His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, have inaugurated a clinic established by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Gaza during a joint pastoral visit to the territory.
The clinic is staffed by approximately 30 personnel, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, and will provide primary healthcare services to up to 100 patients daily, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.
It was established through a partnership between the Order of Malta and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, with operations coordinated by Malteser International, the Order’s humanitarian relief agency.

Dr. Ali Ibrahim Al-Musaddar, the clinic’s medical director, described the state of healthcare in Gaza as catastrophic. Violence has continued despite the ceasefire, he said, with 60% of health facilities completely destroyed and many others severely damaged.
Sanitary conditions are extremely poor, with skin diseases spreading throughout the population. Nearly the entire population has been repeatedly displaced and is dependent on humanitarian aid, he added, with people arriving sick, exhausted, and deeply traumatized and in urgent need of assistance.
Funding and in-kind support for the clinic are being provided by the German Federal Foreign Office, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aktion Deutschland Hilft, UNICEF, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Archdioceses of Munich and Paderborn.
Since the start of the war in Gaza in 2023, Malteser International has delivered more than 220 tons of supplies to approximately 25,000 people living in and around the parish.
