St. Elizabeth Convent in Minsk was founded in 1999 on a site where no churches had previously stood. It is dedicated to the Holy New Martyr Grand Duchess St. Elizabeth Feodorovna.
The convent grew out of the St. Elizabeth Sisterhood, which continues its charitable ministry at the Republican Clinical Psychiatric Hospital, residential institutions for children and adults with developmental disabilities, and hospitals throughout the city. On August 23, 1998, the senior sister of the sisterhood received the first monastic tonsure, taking the name Elizabeth.
The convent comprises eight churches. It is also home to a number of workshops that produce church furnishings, liturgical vestments, clothing for the laity, and a wide variety of handcrafted souvenirs.
