A Romanian Orthodox church building was recently consecrated in Denmark.
The consecration of the Church of the Nursing Mother of Țibleș Icon and the Synaxis of Sts. Macarie, Irodion of Lainici, and Teodgar the Confessor of Vestervig was served by His Grace Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe on July 11, reports the Diocese of Northern Europe.
He was joined by an assembly of priests and deacons in consecrating the altar table and celebrating the Divine Liturgy in the building for the first time. Numerous Romanian and Scandinavian faithful from the Jutland Peninsula and from other regions of Northern Europe were present for the service.

The church was built in 1885 for a local Lutheran congregation. The Romanian Orthodox parish, established by Bp. Macarie in 2022, purchased the building from the Lutheran community in 2024 with support from Romania’s Department for Romanians Everywhere. Extensive restoration and iconographic work followed.
During the consecration service, Bp. Macarie washed the altar table with rose water and anointed it with Chrism, sealing and consecrating it for the celebration of the Divine Eucharist.
He also placed relics of the Holy Martyrs Marius and Martha, their sons Audifax and Abachum, and the Holy Martyr Macarius the Potter of Rome into the altar table.

On the same day, Bp. Macarie also baptized three children from families of the parish.
