The Patriarchate of Constantinople ceremoniously signed the acts of canonizations of several Athonite fathers following its session on Saturday, August 29, reports Romfea.
The rite included six Athonite saints who had been canonized by the Constantinople Synod over the past year:
- The Romanian Elders Dionisie (Ignat), who lived at the Holy Cell of St. George at Kolitsou, under Vatopedi Monastery, and Hieromonk Petroniu (Tănase) of Prodromu Skete, which belongs to the Great Lavra Monastery, were canonized on August 30–31, 2025
- The Romanian Elders Hieroschemonk Nifon (Ionescu) and St. Nectarie (Crețu) the Protopsaltis, the founders of the Romanian Prodromou Skete under the Great Lavra were canonized on October 18, 2025
- Papa Tikhon, the Russian spiritual father of St. Paisios, and the Greek Elder Hadji-Georgis, one of the most prominent Athonite figures of the 19th century, were canonized on February 11 of this year.
In the rite at the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul on Saturday, the acts of canonization were signed into the Codex of Patriarchal and Synodal Acts by Patriarch Bartholomew and other Synodal members:
