Ten members of one family were received into the Orthodox Church through Holy Baptism on Sunday at St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Church in Austin, the culmination of more than a year of catechism, prayer, and study.
The family, accompanied by ten sponsors, took part in the Divine Baptismal Liturgy on September 27, reports the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas.
After many years of searching and visiting different Christian communities, the family shared that something immediately felt familiar when they first stepped into an Orthodox church. They described a deep sense of recognition, as though they had finally arrived at the Church they had been looking for.

The family also spoke of the love and support they received from the parish during their catechumenate. They said they were deeply moved by how they were welcomed, encouraged, and helped at every stage of their journey.
For the parish, the day was much more than a beautiful ceremony, according to the Metropolia’s announcement. It was a reminder that the Church continues to welcome those who sincerely seek Christ and want to enter fully into His sacramental life.
The parish gave thanks to God for guiding the family and for allowing the community to witness such a joyful moment, and prayed that Christ would strengthen the newly baptized, guide them throughout their lives, and keep them always close to His Holy Church.
