Six local Singaporeans were baptized into the holy Orthodox Church this weekend.

The joyous event was held at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos on Saturday, October 3. The Sacrament was celebrated by parish rector Fr. Phillip Calington.

The newly baptized receives the names Marina, Nina, John, Longinus, Edwin, and Avenir, the parish reports.

“A joyful and grace filled day without measure!” Fr. Phillip writes.

The next day, the newly illumined received Holy Communion for the first time at a Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

OrthoChristian previously reported on the Baptism of six men at the same parish in January 2025.

Orthodoxy is represented in Singapore by two jurisdictions: the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which has its Holy Resurrection Cathedral there.
