Petrasanta, July 21, 2010

The Mayor of the city of Petrasanta, at the demands of the Catholic faithful, ordered that a blasphemous poster entitled, “Virgin of the Third Riech” be removed from the Panici Palace, where an exhibition of the Italian artist Giuseppe Veniciano is on display, reports the Catholic News Agency. The poster displayed a swastika on the garment of the the Virgin.

Artist Giuseppe Veniciano, famous for his mockery of various historical figures including Pope Benedict XVI, apologized, but called himself a “victim of censorship.”
