Cypriot Orthodox doctors providing medical assistance in Madagascar

Madagascar, July 9, 2011

A group of doctors and workers from the missionary center of the Metropolis of Konstantias of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus will be providing aid in the areas of dental care, pediatrics, and general medicine for ten days in a northeastern province of Madagascar.

The medical brigade will provide services to people living in remote villages, using a special mobile clinic. The doctors are caring for thousands of people, regardless of race, nationality, or religious affiliation. Most of those who they see have never before had access to qualified medical help, reports the news agency Romfea.

The doctors are conducting their work with the blessing and under the supervision of Metropolitan Ignatios of Madagascar (Patriarchate of Alexandria).
