Meeting between Georgian and Turkish specialists on issues of restoration of Churches in Tao-Klarjeti

The Ministry of culture in Georgia will summarize the fifth meeting between Georgian and Turkish experts in the restoration of architectural monuments, reports Blagovest-info.

The Minister of culture and protection of monuments Guram Odisharia and director general of the National agency for the protection of cultural heritage Merab Bochoidze will hold the presentation of summary on progress of the restoration works of the Ishkhani Church.

According to the report of the Georgian Ministry of culture to Interpressnews, minister Guram Odisharia on October 27–29, during his trip to "The international Silkroad Congress" will meet his colleague, the Turkish minister of culture and tourism Omer Celik.

The ministers will touch upon the issues of the restoration of Georgian churches on the territory of Turkey. According to the same source, under the direction of the director general Merab Bochoidze, cooperation with the Turkish colleagues on issues of Tao-Klarjeti has entered a new phase. As a result the agreement has been reached so that the restoration process in architectural complexes of Ishkhani and, consequently, Oshki should be carried out under the joint observation of Georgian and Turkish experts. In this format, a professional view of the Georgian restorers will be taken into account.

"For the purpose of restoring the original look of Ishkhani, the restoration works are being implemented in accordance with the standards of international restoration practice. The working team has already prepared the recommendations which will be taken into account at the new stage of the joint planning and of implementation of the restoration work of Ishkhani," reports the Ministry of culture of Georgia.
