Two banners with public advertisements have been put up in front of the maternity clinic in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, calling upon women to forego abortions. Another banner is near the shopping center; its main idea is to remind parents not to leave their children unattended.
According to Alexei Tyurin, he decided to take up public advertisement in order "to attract the attention of concerned people to help solve social issues".
In March this year, Alexei Tyurin for the first time wrote an appeal to the Department of urban planning and architecture of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to place public advertisement on the building of the town maternity home. There he was advised to get the consent of the home’s head physician.
"When I told him about it, he answered that it was a good idea and he gave me green light, specifying that the lease would be free of charge. He also approved placing another public advertisement against abortions at the maternity center. Having called the advertising agency and learned the banner's cost, I decided to act. I discussed this with my wife. She understood my concern and gave the go ahead to take 10.5 thousand rubles ($350) from the family budget to make the banner," related the author of the public advertisement to the Public Advertising Agency.
Alexei Tyurin's activity was noticed, and members of the Civic Chamber of the Sakhalin region proposed to elect Alexei Tyurin to the town's action group with a right to vote. The activist has also become acquainted with the children's ombudsperson to the governor of the Sakhalin region Natalia Darikova who showed interest in the proposals regarding protection of maternity and childhood.
One of the main ideas Alexei Tyurin promotes is responsible parenthood.
He also plans to make advertisements that call upon motorists to drive more carefully.
