Victims of Holodomor prayerfully commemorated with minute of silence, lit candles in Kiev

On November 26 a state ceremony, “Memorial in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine,” honoring the victims of the 1932-33 Holodomor was held at the National Museum, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and all Ukraine, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) took part in the event.

President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman and other government representatives, religious leaders of various confessions, and public figures also participated in the state ceremony.

The president announced a nationwide minute of silence and the “Light a Candle” demonstration. In closing, those gathered laid flowers at the memorial and placed lit candles.

On this day all churches and monasteries of the UOC held a Pannikhida for the reposed in connection with the memorial for the victims of the Holodmor, by the blessing of the primate of the UOC.

Fr. Niel, if you open the article and read it, you will see that he is talking about the non-canonical schismatic "Kiyv Patriarchate". The Roman Church is another story.
