Russian Diocese sends 22 tons of humanitarian aid to Donbass children

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Theophylact of Pyatigorsk and Cherkessk, parishioners of the Pyatigorsk Diocese collected more than 22 tons of humanitarian aid for suffering children in Donbass.

The cargo, collected within the framework of the annual Paschal Hope event, was delivered to Lugansk, Pervomaisk, and Irmino in the Lugansk Province in the historical Donbass region, reports Blessed Caucasus, the site of the Pyatigorsk-Cherkessk Diocese.

Participants in the annual Pyatigorsk Diocese “Marukha” youth forum from the Lugansk boarding school for deaf and hearing-impaired children, a boarding school for disabled children in Irmino, and a Sunday School at the St. Nicholas Church in Pervomaisk received the aid.

The more than 22 tons of humanitarian aid included household chemicals, groceries, water, appliances, utensils, clothes, and shoes. Hieromonk Alexander (Emelyanov) from the Pyatigorsk Diocese went to help deliver the cargo.

Paschal Hope is held every year in the parishes of the Pyatigorsk Diocese during Great Lent, with the faithful collecting assistance for poor parishioners and wards of boarding schools. Aid has been sent to Lugansk several times since 2015.
