More than a dozen children were united to Christ in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in Nigeria recently.

The celebration at the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael in the town of Uli, Anambra, on November 5 is the latest of the mass Baptisms that regularly take place throughout Africa both in the Patriarchate of Alexandria and in the Russian Church’s African Exarchate.

In this latest Baptism, celebrated by Archimandrite Cornelius Osuji with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Nigeria of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, 18 children were received into the holy Orthodox Church, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

Other recent mass Baptisms include a group of 29 former Protestants in Malawi in August (Russian Exarchate), and several families with children and people of all ages in Tanzania later that month. Last month, 16 children were baptized in Kenya.
