Iringa Region, Tanzania, March 14, 2023
A joyous event was held in Tanzania over the weekend, as dozens of adults and children were baptized into Christ at the St. Dionysios of Olympos Missionary Center in Iringa.
“It’s a strange thing to foretell the joy of Pentecost during the period of the Triodion, but it’s a fact that every moment in the mission bears the indelible seal of the Holy Spirit. Everything is done according to God’s providence, His grace, and help!” the Missionary Center writes about the event.
Mass Baptisms are a common occurrence in Tanzania and throughout Africa. This time, 149 souls from villages throughout the Iringa Region were united to Christ in Baptism, with the blessing of Metropolitan Theophilest of Arusha of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

“We hope that our newly enlightened brothers will have God's blessing in their lives and that the light that flooded their hearts today will be a guide on the path of their new life according to Christ,” the Missionary Center writes.
At the end of the service, a festive meal was offered.
114 people, including dozens of former Muslims, were baptized in Tanzania last month.
