Dozens of former Muslims baptized in Tanzania

Morogoro, Morogoro Region, Tanzania, February 7, 2023

More than 100 people, including dozens of former Muslims, were joyfully united to Christ in holy Baptism in Tanzania on Sunday.

After undergoing catechism with Archimandrite Eleftherio at the Church of Sts. Arsenios and Paisios in Morogoro (the first in the world to be built in honor of St. Paisios the Athonite, in 2004), 114 people were baptized by Metropolitan Dimitrios of Irinoupolis of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, reports Romfea.

The new Orthodox Christians all partook of Holy Communion for the first time during the Sunday Liturgy.

“The joy of the 114 newly illumined (including dozens of Muslims) was truly touching, with faces shining with grace and joy,” writes Romfea.

Since 2004, more than 60,000 have been baptized in Tanzania.

OrthoChristian most recently reported that 60 were baptized in Tanzania on Christmas day.

The foundation for a new Orthodox boys’ orphanage was also laid in Morogoro late last month.

May god bless these souls and protect them in the Orthodox Church.

Hey "Jason Th," maybe you should try reading the article first? You might find there the amazing phrase: "114 people were baptized by Metropolitan Dimitrios of Irinoupolis of the Patriarchate of Alexandria."

Is this via the canonical church ie the Patriarchate of Alexandria, or through the schismatic sect created by the muscovites, pretty important distinction one would have thought?
